Finn is raised by his mother alone. He struggles to make her proud of him and makes her happy. As a student in high school, Finn is more mentally matured than others. What he relies on is not only his mother’s earnings, but also the scholarship he obtains. Will (director of New Directions) blackmails him into joining the Glee club. Being afraid that his mother will find out he had pot (that was never his), Finn agrees, which serves the start of the story.
